The vintage era is my favorite era of fashion. Whenever I think of vintage, I think of all things glam and retro. Pin curls and bouffant, immaculate red lips and colorful clothes: Vintage era is and will be the most glamorous era in the history. Icons like Madonna and Cher ruled the roost; their fashion statement is talked about even today. And not only fashion, this era inspires me in every other way. The casual, happy-go-lucky vibes captured in the grainy vignette photographs intrigues me of the time we all want to replicate. The regal yet cheerful people bolstered by a booming economy, with their innocent love stories and romance melts my heart. And who can forget the entertainment industry? It was probably at its best! Call me old-fashioned, but I enjoy every aspect of the vintage world.

When it comes to vintage, the fashion was a defining element of the era. I interpret retro more than a sweeping generalization of bright colors, polka dots and bell bottoms. For me it is fitted, chic yet cheerful clothing representing the empowered women of that era. Marrying femininity with ease, I wanted to create a look which blends well with this era while giving some vintage chic vibes. Hence I chose this check black-and-white pencil skirt. Patterns were huge back in the days, so I felt like incorporating those in my outfit.

For my top, I chose this red crop top with a nice frill. Crop tops and frills originally belonged to the grand vintage era, so what’s better than adding those two elements together in my outfit! I chose the color red because it reminds me of the quintessential glamour of the retro era. Red is bright, bold and makes a statement wherever you go. To go with the outfit, I put my hair up with a red satin hair band and bold red lips. I finished the look with a pair of black sliders with buckle detailing on it to add that modern touch.

I love how everything turned out in this look. Including some vintage pieces with my modern, chic outfit came out to be a successful experiment. Vintage/retro fashion is often regarded as loud and crass, but for me it defines self-expression and art. I love the feel and vibes of the era, and will surely go back to this era for more style and fashion inspiration!

Hope you like this post.

Much love :*

This is the 2nd year of my blog and I feel I hadn’t taken it too seriously last year due to my work schedule and of course Laziness.  I work full time in an event agency and I shoot on weekends. Yes! I am not a FULL TIME BLOGGER.
Initially, I used to skip my shoots & events a lot cos I wanted to rest, chill with my friends and give my self time but over a period of time I realized that the days I was doing nothing and not meeting anybody or going somewhere, used to irritate me and I had started feeling guilty of wasting time doing nothing at all.

I used to not post anything for weeks due to which I even lost a lot followers on social media. I do feel bad about it sometimes but now I feel I need to stop stressing over what i didn’t do last year and focus on what I can do now. A lot of you guys tell me that my hair is my USP and I should create more content about it.

I am working on it!  I’ve started sharing my hair care routine videos and tips as requested by you guys and I will continue doing that. Please continue pouring in your questions.

So ya, I am currently going to focus on creating more fresh content to share with you guys (not just about hair care).
I am grateful to where I have reached today and all the love that I receive from you all on social media. Thank you!!

Please please feel free to let me know what you guys want to see next on my YouTube channel, blog, Instagram anywhere.

Until Next Time 🙂

What is the first thing that comes in mind when we think of summer? A rendezvous to nice golden beaches and blue sea or an escapade to high mountains and beautiful hill stations, right? But for me, summer means so much more than a vacation. It is the time to cherish the beauty of Nature.

The occasional relief of drizzle interspersed in between the days with unforgiving Sun, followed by the cool summer breeze in the evening: there is a beauty which remains unappreciated of summers. And not only the weather, but the colors of summer are something worth mentioning. The yellows, reds, whites dominate the summer colors palette alongside with a hint of green and blue, making everything look so vibrant and magical. I like to switch my dresses from floral prints to more bold monochromatic colors or feminine pastels to match the summer vibes.

Summer is the best season to experiment with clothes, and I make sure to leave no stones unturned in that.

For this look, I chose to go monochromatic with a chrome yellow two-piece outfit. Yellow, I feel, is a must have in every girl’s wardrobe. It is quintessentially flamboyant and is sure to make heads turn. So I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to wear an off-shoulder crop top with a matching long skirt. Crop tops aren’t going anywhere this year too, so it pairs well with the breezy long skirt and adds on to the effortless yet feminine vibes.

With this outfit, I decided to accessorize it with a pair of reflective sunglasses. I chose blue reflectors to compliment the beautiful location. The clear summer skies and blue waters look lovely, which inspired me for this entire ensemble. And I love how everything turned out: the ensemble goes perfectly well with the location!

I feel the most important aspect for dressing up in any season, is to match its vibes. I feel summer is all about the casual, laid back yet fiery and sexy vibes.

Hot afternoons and breezy evenings, swim dates and long walks: This is how I define my summer days. How do you define your summers?

Hey Guys! As you all know I love travelling & exploring new places. I am sure you all have seen pictures and stories on my Instagram & Snap chat about my getaways. I get a lot of messages asking where I am staying at and stuff usually when I travel.  Hence this time I decided to blog about my weekend getaway and I will continue doing it.

So we started our journey from Mumbai at around 8:30 in the morning and reached the resort by 1 pm after taking a mandatory halt at MC Donald’s.

The moment we entered the resort we were welcomed by welcome drinks – Kokam Sharbat which was super refreshing. We checked-in in our room and then rushed for lunch as we were starving. They served us delicious authentic Maharashtrian food.

What I loved about the property was the location. You will not find anything distracting your view. It’s located inside a village which makes it different from the rest of properties that are around Nasik surrounded by beautiful mountains and a huge lake. Quiet and peaceful!

In the evening we were offered tea and snacks post which, we went to the Vaitarna Lake which is 10 minutes away from the resort. It’s immensely beautiful and picturesque.

I decided to chill in the pool after coming back. It was calm and relaxing.

The staff members of Jen Jon were really polite and helpful. They arranged for a bonfire after we got done with dinner which was a perfect end to the day.

We couldn’t have asked for more.

There are a lot of outdoor games, bicycles, 80v bike, archery etc. you could try your hands on.

Basically, there’s everything for everyone.

You can definitely plan your weekend at Jen Jon and I am sure you won’t get disappointed.

And I can’t wait to go back!

Hope you liked the blog post.

Have a great weekend 🙂

Hi Guys! Hope you all are doing great.

So Feb & March have been a bit rough for me after I got back from Kerala.

I had a few health issues screwing my head due to which I couldn’t shoot at all.

Thank fully I feel better now and I am back to shooting and working on my blog.

I am so happy to see the kind of response I am getting by you guys on my posts on Instagram.

A Big Thank you!! <3

This time, I shot something different from what I usually do – Bold & Powerful (if you could call it that).

I couldn’t believe how vivid these pictures came out. Needless to say huge credits to the photographer, Mrinal Khatnani.

I am wearing a blue bodysuit which I bought from Goa a few months back. High waist leather pants from H&M & Heels from Shein. I love these metallic earrings I bought from Voylla they look fabulous on everything. And I’m wearing a hot pink metallic shimmer lip colour from NYX Cosmetics. It is super sparkly and bright.

I wanted to share this look with you guys before the weather starts heating up and we switch to lighter shades and more comfy & breezy clothes.

Hope you all enjoyed the pictures.

Do share your feedbacks.

Much love!

Kiran

What is Valentine’s Day?

Does it change anything in our life?

How often do we love our self?

When was the last time you took yourself out?

When was the last time you snuggled in bed just because you wanted to spend time with your own self?

When was the last time you took pictures of yourself and stuck them in your room because you love looking at yourself, instead of sharing it on social media so that others can like and share their views on how you look?

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and smiled, teased, laughed at yourself?

When was the last time you said “I am the best” for real to somebody instead of writing it as a caption on your picture? Do you have the guts to say you are the best and you love the way you are, to somebody on their face?

Do you really sleep peacefully every night? Without any worries about others?

Do we really know what love is? If we think we do, because we’re great at showing love to our loved one’s then where does self-love go? When does that happen?

So many of us are programmed to take care of others constantly. We often look for others to fulfil our desires and show affection to us. We don’t usually enjoy investing in ourselves or make us a priority.

Most of us, spend half of our lives adjusting to things, compromising, making others happy, and living our lives according to others just because we love them.

If we loved ourselves the way we love others we would have been the happiest in life.

This Valentine’s Day Love Yourself.

Here are 5 things you could start with:

  1. Forgive yourself

My friend Saniya, once told me how important forgiving ourselves is and how it changes our lives. I remember cribbing about things I couldn’t achieve while chatting with her often (things like not being able to blog regularly, not being able to attend a particular event or cancelling shoots etc.). I realised that cribbing about not being able to do stuff actually made me depressed due to which I couldn’t focus on bettering things.

One day while conversing with her, she showed me her diary where she wrote all the regrets she had, under which she had written the reasons and a question asking if she was really prepared for the things that didn’t work and answers below to those questions. It all made sense to me and I realized that blindly running in life with regrets will never help me grow in life. Everybody makes mistakes which is Just Fine. It all depends on how you take it.

2. Keep yourself first

There lies beauty in sacrifice. But when you constantly put yourself second, you set up an inevitable pattern of behavior. In time, you settle for second place in more than one area of life. Re-evaluate what it means to put yourself first: engaging in your interests, pursuing your ambitions, and ensuring your well-being. Your romantic relationships will flourish too if you keep yourself first. Whether you’re in a relationship or looking for one, I guarantee your partner will feel more enamored with you and more fulfilled in the relationship when you’re not afraid to make yourself a priority.

3. Say I love you.

Speak it to yourself every morning; look in a mirror and say “I love you” in a loud voice. We automatically critique, blame, and fault ourselves for nearly everything, rarely acknowledging the things we do well or those we ought to be proud of.

Show yourself daily doses of well-deserved appreciation.

4. Do something you love each day.

When was the last time you did something you truly loved? Our ambition is admirable, but our lives have become so busy that we often dismiss simple pleasures to take care of business. Whether it’s a hobby, talent, or special craft, take thirty minutes out of your day, each day, to practice what nourishes your soul. Everything can wait while you indulge in your beloved self.

5. Cut out all negative influences

Make a list of the people in your life who have no place being there. You know who they are — those who drain you physically, emotionally, or mentally, who take advantage of you or cause you any form of stagnation. Literally cut your list in half and let this be reflective of the way in which you will trim away these negative influences in real life.

Lastly, celebrate your worth.

It’s easy to get distracted by potential achievements and neglect past accomplishments. Don’t be afraid to raise your glass and toast to that amazing person who’s conquered their every challenge: YOU. Remember, you were born to be perfectly loved and completely lovable.

There is no better time to begin than NOW.

Mumbai is a city that is not really known for its winters. In fact, it is not known for its winters at all. That’s because there is hardly any winter in the city as the temperature does not drop to a level low enough for it to be truly cold. But somehow its cold in the mornings and evenings, which obviously means you cannot wear your regular clothes during this season.

But you can layer up your regular outfits before stepping out to protect yourself from the chilled breeze.

Since we’re lucky that it’s not that cold here and we don’t have to give up on wearing our skirts, shorts, dresses etc.

I created 5 casual looks that you could try too for the “not so cold days”:

  1. Skater skirt with a warm jumper
  • Skater skirts are my favorite. They look cute yet classy you can wear them with anything and never fail. I wore an over-sized jumper with the skirt with sneakers for a casual look.

2. A vest on a tee with a blazer on top

  • I paired a plain tee with a tube vest and wore a blazer on top as just the tee and the vest worn with a skater skirt won’t protect you much from the cold. Wearing a top on a top may make you feel awkward in the start but trust me it looks great. You could try wearing a blingy tube top on a shirt and accessorize it well for a party wear look.

3. Tube dress with a woolen cape

  • The tube dress is more of a party wear dress if worn without any layer. I teamed up the tube dress with a woolen cape for a rather subtle evening look. You definitely can try something similar for a dinner date since it looks classy and hot ;).

4. Sweater on a shirt

  • Sweaters on shirts have been in trend since a very long time and are not taken that seriously by many of us, since we aren’t sure of how it would look. Sweaters on shirts work amazingly well for a complete office semi-formal look.

5. An over-sized sweatshirt with a mini skirt

  • This is more of a casual outfit that you could try while you’re going out to chill with your friends maybe. I don’t think I need to say much about this outfit all I can say is, this was my most favorite look compared to the rest.

Hope you all liked the post.

I have been thinking for a long time, and today I finally sat down to pen down my running thoughts about a huge part of our lives. This isn’t the usual The Curly Route blog post where I talk about my usual outfits, but something more. Sometimes I feel we women have a lot to deal with in our lives. From family to health, career to home; sometimes I am surprised at our multitasking skills! Amongst juggling all these responsibilities, there is an added pressure to….wait for it…..marry soon!!

Yes, we all have been there and struggled with that. Just as we blow the candles on our 25th birthday, all the inside jokes and taunts start coming in. Parents, relatives, neighbors: You name it, they have it! God knows how many times we have heard the same rant from different people. From “You won’t get a suitable boy if you don’t settle down now” to “What will the society say?” I am pretty sure all of us have a similar list of complaints heard from family and strangers alike.

But come on, relax! The times have changed. Now we have an ambition to fulfill, a career to succeed in. We don’t have to rely on a man to take care of us; we are strong and independent women. Marriage, having kids and taking care of our in-laws aren’t the priorities anymore. We love ourselves, our imperfections and our aging body; we don’t need to rush into a man’s world to validate ourselves.

And certainly, if a woman doesn’t wish to marry, doesn’t mean she devalues her traditions or I have become too ‘modern’ or ‘influenced’ by Western culture. I can still flaunt my traditional roots without compromising on my modern lifestyle’s comfort. I mean, who said dupattas can only be worn with kurtas or lehengas and not with jogger shorts? Or maang tikas & bangles can only be worn when wearing traditional outfits? In clothing, I love to blend some traditional pieces with my casual outfits to jazz up my style.

A statement maang-tika goes a long way to add a trendy traditional touch to your outfit. And when I talk about Indian ornaments, how can I forget bangles? Glass, colored or studded bangles spruce up your OOTD and add glamour to an otherwise basic outfit.

If accessories are not up your alley, you have the beloved dupatta at your rescue!

Here, I have paired my dupatta with a monochromatic outfit, throwing in basic black pair of shorts, an off-shoulder white crop top and added a traditional dupatta to it to create an effortless fusion look.

Septum rings and bindis are other hot trends this season. Don’t shy away from sporting a false septum ring and intricate bindis. Or you can do it my way by sporting colorful rhinestone bindis around your cheeks giving an illusion of freckles.

Be it jootis, long skirts with traditional prints or naths, fusion outfits have come a long way from the prominent fashion runways to the streets of the metropolitan. So put your thinking hats on and get experimental with various traditional-modern fusion outfits.  You have the freedom to be anything you want, wear anything you can. So turn a deaf ear to the pressure of this society and do what you aspire. Love yourself and let the world know how beautiful and strong you are.

Rest will follow!

Unfortunately or fortunately, Mumbai winters are never extreme.
You don’t really have to wear thick sweaters or leather jackets, just one layer of any thing you like (cardigans, pullovers, capes etc) and your good to go.
I bought this basic black dress from my last visit to Bangkok (that reminds me, I wanna go on a vacation again 🙁 ). So ya! In this post I’m gonna show you how you can style your basic dress in 3 different ways this – Not So Cold Season.
1. Layering it with a bomber jacket.
This look is a combination of being sporty and boho. I wanted to play with colours for this look and I really like the way it came out.
2. Wearing a top under it.
This look is simple yet classy. You can wear this dress under a tee or even a shirt to make it look interesting.
3. By just accessorizing it.
The bulky neck piece and the mojris that I am wearing here, gives the entire look – a boho feel. You can accessorize it further with metallic bangles or rings.
Hope you liked the post.
Do share your feedback.
Much Love,
Kiran <3
